Welcome to Dragon Nation, Mr. Jarod Powell!
Please join us in welcoming Mr. Jarod Powell to Dewar Public Schools! Mr. Powell will serve as our new Math Teacher while continuing his role as an Assistant Football Coach.
A Henryetta native, Mr. Powell earned his Bachelor of Science in Mathematics Education from Northeastern State University and his Master of Science in Mathematics Education from Oklahoma State University.
Mr. Powell brings 19 years of teaching experience and previously served as a Math Instructor at OSUIT. While at OSUIT, he was recognized with the prestigious Regents Distinguished Teaching Award in 2020. Many in Dragon Nation already know him from the sidelines, as he has proudly served as an Assistant Football Coach at Dewar since 2021.
When asked what inspired him to join Dewar full-time, Mr. Powell shared:
"I have been working part-time with Dewar for five years and have seen how much the staff, teachers, and coaches invest in the students. I am ready to work somewhere that supports students in everything they do and holds students accountable to meeting the standards."
He is most excited about becoming more involved in student development throughout the school day and school year while building stronger relationships that help students achieve their goals.
Outside of school, Mr. Powell enjoys spending time with his wife and their three children, as well as tackling new DIY projects around the house.
We're thrilled to officially welcome Mr. Powell to our teaching staff and look forward to the knowledge, leadership, and dedication he will bring to both the classroom and the football program.
