welcome

Welcome to Dragon Nation, Mrs. Etha Russell!

Please join us in welcoming Mrs. Etha Russell to Dewar Public Schools! She will be joining our elementary team as our new 3rd Grade Teacher.

Mrs. Russell is originally from Okmulgee and brings 13 years of teaching experience from Graham-Dustin Public Schools, where she taught 1st through 4th grades, including the last four years in a combined 3rd/4th grade classroom.

She has earned an impressive educational background, including:

🎓 Associate of Applied Science in Office Management – Rogers State University

🎓 Associate in Science (Pre-Education) – OSUIT

🎓 Bachelor of Science in Education – Northeastern State University

Mrs. Russell has also completed the LETRS (Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading & Spelling) two-year program, earning her Science of Reading Certificate of Mastery.

She chose Dewar because it gave her the opportunity to teach one grade level, be closer to home, and because three of her grandchildren proudly attend Dewar Public Schools.

When asked what she's most excited about, Mrs. Russell shared:

"I am most excited about building relationships with my students and staff and seeing how much we can accomplish together during the 2026-2027 school year."

Outside of the classroom, she enjoys spending time with her family, reading, and working crossword puzzles.

A fun fact about Mrs. Russell is that she was the first—and remains the only—member of her family, including both parents and four siblings, to attend college. What an incredible accomplishment and example of perseverance!

We're excited to have Mrs. Russell join the Dragon family. Help us give her a warm Dragon Nation welcome in the comments!
